It will be a tough battle during the Anambra 2025 Governorship Election, as members of 46 Obidient Support Groups on Thursday, pledged support to business leader, Valentine Ozigbo in his bid to become the next governor of the state.
Anambra presents a very strong base for the Obidients- supporters of Mr Peter Obi, who governed the state between 2006 and 2014, with outstanding achievements.
During the 2021 General Elections in the state, the Obidients were instrumental to the emergence of many political office holders at both the National and State Assemblies, rattling the dominant All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the state.
In a statement issued and signed on Thursday by Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, Mrs. Ebere Obiesie, Ezeokoli Blessing, Kingland Ezeani, Chigozie Ifeanyichukwu, and Ikenna Mbanefo, the Obidient Support Groups promised to support Ozigbo with resources, networks, and their entire energies to actualize their dream of seeing Anambra State in the hands of an authentic leader.
According to the groups, the Obidient Support Groups are a coalition of independent democratic activists dedicated to advocating for good governance in Nigeria.
They stated that their mission originated as the ‘New Nigeria’ movement to see Nigeria led by credible and competent political leaders who can bring about transformative change in the nation.
“United in purpose, we, the leaders and members of 46 diverse Obidient Support Groups, including the influential Big 6 – Peter Obi Support Network, Women for Peter Obi, Like Minds For Peter Obi, Take Back Naija, Nigeria Needs Peter Obi, and Coalition For Peter Obi, stand firm in our endorsement of Valentine Ozigbo for the upcoming Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election.
“Regarding the November 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, the Obidient Support Groups have conducted a thorough analysis of the political landscape.
“We have evaluated the administration of the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo and found him wanting in several aspects of leadership and service delivery to Ndi Anambra.
