2024 WAFCON: Winner to take home $500,000

The 2024 WAFCON kicks-off today with Qualifiers across the continent as announced by CAF. The Federation also stated an increase in prize money for the winner, runner-up and third place.

The 9 times Champions and Africa’s most successful nation, the Super Falcons have secured their automatic qualification to the second round when São Tomé pulled out from the qualifiers after being drawn against Nigeria.

According to CAF, for the 2024 edition, 40 Nations will enter the qualifying stages. In the first qualifying round, teams will play two matches against each other. The winner of the two matches will qualify for the second round, scheduled for November 2023.

In this stage of the qualification phase, two countries will be exempted. They are South Africa and Zambia, respectively reigning African champions and bronze medallists.
