2023 General Elections Not Different From A Military Coup- Aisha Yesufu

Human right activist and frontline supporter of the Labor Party presidential candidate during the 2023 general election Aisha Yesufu has said that the level of irregularities during the 2023 general elections was not any different from a military coup.

Aisha who stated this while speaking on Channels Tv’ Inside Sources on Friday 2 February 2024 maintained that she does not frown at who was declared winner of the 2023 presidential election but totally condemned the process that gave him victory.

The social media influencer touched on the need for citizens to be involved in the political process in order to challenge the woeful failure of leadership in Nigeria.

She added that while Nigerians lament on the rot in leadership, those who are supposed to fix the system have been the ones unduly milking from it.

Aisha who expressed hope that despite daunting challenges bedeviling the nation, things would get better with the right leadership in place, stressed the need for citizens to consistently hold the government accountable for their failure in addressing socio-economic and increased insecurity challenges ravaging the nation.

On his part, the former presidential candidate of the AAC Omoyele Sowore, while noting that citizens should not rely so much on the hope that country would improve for the better, emphasized the need for citizens to peacefully revolutionize against the failure of government and in order to bring about the desired change.

Sowore who stated that when the word revolution is mentioned, some people always get the wrong impression of what it entails, added that citizens should not expect that a positive change in leadership was going to be gotten on a platter of gold.

He equally faulted the Labour Party for not doing enough in reorganizing and remobilizing for a formidable force even after gaining a major momentum that almost saw to the change of  the status quo during the 2023 presidential election.
