2023 BET award nomination: Burna Boy, Tems, Ayra Starr, Asake nominated

 

The nomination list for the 2023 BET awards has been released and some Nigerian superstars made the cut.

Grammy award winner, Burna Boy, was nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Video Director of the Year, Viewer’s Choice, and Best International Act categories.  The Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has been nominated for four Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards in the 2023 season.

The ‘Last Last’ singer competed in the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist category against other international talents like Chris Brown, Drake, The Weekend, and Usher. Burna Boy will compete in the Video Director of the Year category alongside Asap Rocky, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar, Director X, and others for his work on the visual interpretation of the massive smash single last last.

 

The self-proclaimed African giant received two further nods for the song Last Last in the Viewers’ Choice category and for Best International Act.

Tems, who is also a Grammy winner, was nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste, Best Collaboration, and Viewers Choice categories. Tems is closely behind with three nominations, two of which are for Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste. Her contribution to the song wait for you, which is up for Best Collaboration and Viewers’ Choice awards, has earned her two joint nominations with Future and Drake.

Asake got a nod in the Viewer’s Choice and Best New International Act category, while Ayra Starr was nominated in the best international act category Burna Boy was also nominated.
