2023 AFCON: Nigeria beat Angola to reach the last four

WCQ: Super Eagles record another frustrating draw against Zimbabwe

The Super Eagles of Nigeria triumphed over the Stable Antelopes of Angola to reach the final four following a 1-0 victory at full-time.

Ademola Lookman rescued Nigeria again, scoring the lone goal that separated both sides after a stringent 90 minutes of play.

First Half:

The first half was intense, with both sides looking dangerous and promising. Of course, Nigeria took the lead in the late minutes of the first half. It was an excellent drive from Simon Moses who provided the assist to Ademola Lookman – he placed the goal beyond the reach of the Angola goalkeeper, giving Nigeria the first-half lead.

Second Half:

The game returned with Nigeria absorbing much pressure from the Angolans, but the Nigerian defense line was repulsive and formidable. In the 75th minute, Osimhen’s brilliant strike was denied by VAR- three minutes after Alhassan Yusuf replaced Alex Iwobi. Joel Aribo was brought in for Frank Onyeka just two minutes to full-time. The final substitutions were Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman who were replaced by Paul Onuachu and Kenneth Omeruo.

Nigeria will battle the winner between Cape Verde and South Africa for the Semi final round Wednesday 7, 2024
