Publisher of Leadership Group of Newspapers and an unrepentant critic of the Jonathan administration, Sam Nda-Isaiah, will on Tuesday, October 28, formally declare his intention to contest for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A statement by his campaign group, Sam4Nigeria, announced that the declaration will take place at the Idris Legbo Kutigi Conference Centre, Minna, Niger state, by 11am.
Executive director, public affairs of Sam4Nigeria, Ibrahim Tukur, noted that following over a year of consultations with family and friends, critical stakeholders, different groups, communities and leaders across the country, it was now time for Sam to formally come public with his ambition.
The statement reads in part, “Our country has never been in greater need for change. What came out loud and clear during our consultative tours were people telling us that they were tired of change as a slogan – they need change as an action word, now,
“For the first time in the history of Nigeria, our great party, the APC, offers change as an action word, a real possibility. The overwhelming feedback is that we also have an aspirant, Sam, who embodies the hopes and aspirations of party and country.
“Sam stands for big ideas about the country’s future. At a time when the country is deeply divided, he offers a strong unifying message and generational connectedness. He is in touch.”
Tukur continued that the public declaration would present delegates, party members and the public at large an opportunity to deepen the conversation about the country’s future with Sam and be a part of the train for change.
According to him, “It’s time for all those who are truly fed up with 15 wasted years of the ruling PDP to stand up with Sam and be counted”.
