17-year-old boy apprehended for scamming  POS vendor of N900,000 in Jigawa

In Jigawa State, the police have taken into custody a 17-year-old boy named Abdulmuminu Tasiu.

He is accused of deceiving a Point of Sale (POS) vendor in Maigatari Local Government and making off with a substantial sum of N900,000.

The police spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, officially affirmed the arrest through a statement released to the press.

The incident unfolded on a Friday when Aminu Mustafa, a 38-year-old POS vendor from Unguwar Dodo quarters, Maigatari LGA, lent his machine to a customer for a withdrawal transaction.

Mustafa later reported to the police that an unidentified individual had visited his POS shop, purportedly for a money withdrawal. However, upon receiving the POS machine, the person allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities, transferring a total of N900,000 into his account.

Upon receiving this information, the patrolling police were alerted and successfully apprehended the 17-year-old suspect, Abdulmuminu Tasi’u, residing in Adakawa quarters, Dala LGA, Kano State. Subsequently, Tasiu was brought to the police station for thorough investigation.

During the interrogation process, the suspect reportedly confessed to committing the offense. Following the investigation, Shiisu stated that the suspect would face legal proceedings and be taken to court.

The occurrence emphasizes the difficulties experienced by point-of-sale (POS) vendors and underscores the importance of being careful in financial transactions.

This situation serves as a reminder of the obstacles that POS vendors encounter and brings attention to the necessity for carefulness and alertness when engaging in financial transactions.
