Fourteen out of 25 people arrested during a recent joint security operation in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State have been confirmed as loyal followers of the wanted militia and bandit leader, Konyo.
The arrests were made on Monday during a joint patrol and show of force along the Katsina-Ala Takum highway. The operation was based on intelligence reports about a planned attack on Tor-Donga town.
Investigations revealed that the 14 suspects are members of a dangerous armed group responsible for several violent crimes, including kidnappings and ambushes, in Gbise and nearby areas.
The confirmed suspects are Awuhe Terungwa, Asawa Terseer, Terkura Audu, Terseer Gusa, Sesugh Terver, Dengba Tersugh Benjamin, Goji Abraham, Joshua Ioraenyi, Chia Fanen, Mson Iorfa, Terhemen Yanmeer, Yerfa Iorchir, Viashima Ngutor, and Vendaga Anthony. All of them are from Gbise town.
Their arrest followed swift action by security forces who noticed suspicious activity along the highway. A follow-up raid also led to more arrests as some suspects were found regrouping in a nearby forest.
Security presence and patrols in the area have now been increased to prevent further violence.
