Troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade have arrested 14 suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) collaborators and smugglers along an illegal route in Kanama, Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to security analyst, the suspects were intercepted at about 5:00 a.m. on October 2, 2026, by troops of the Forward Operating Base, Kanama.
The troops reportedly acted on intelligence indicating that the suspects were travelling in five vehicles through an illegal route located close to the military formation.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in smuggling activities and were suspected of collaborating with terrorists.
Items recovered from the suspects included a large quantity of fish, 19 mobile phones, nine ATM cards, one power bank and N129,250 in cash.
Makama said the suspects and the recovered items remained in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
