Eleven Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Borno State, as soldiers neutralised eight other terrorists and arrested two suspected logistics suppliers during sustained military operations across the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
According to him, the terrorists surrendered under intense military pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on January 10, 2026, as part of Operation DESERT SANITY V, handing over their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.
Lt Col Uba explained that on January 9, 2026, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, where several active terrorist enclaves and camps were destroyed. The camps included Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile, as well as the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps.
“During the operations, troops dismantled life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics and recovered items including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines,” the statement said.
He added that similar offensive operations in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.
In another operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, resulting in the neutralisation of eight terrorists and the recovery of AK-47 rifles. Two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were also arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying logistics to insurgents.
Lt Col Uba further revealed that troops deployed at the Cameroon–Nigeria border intercepted a Peugeot vehicle conveying six bags of urea fertiliser, a critical material commonly used in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Further intelligence exploitation led to the arrest of the fertiliser dealer and the recovery of an additional six bags, bringing the total seized to twelve.
“All suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary legal action,” he said.
He assured Nigerians that troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure against terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East region.
