In Jigawa State, a tragic road accident occurred at Kwanar Gujungu town, resulting in the death of eleven persons.
The Jigawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiitu Adam, officially acknowledged the incident in a statement released on a somber Sunday.
According to Adam, the unfortunate event transpired on a Saturday, when a Honda LE and a Golf Wagon collided head-on, leading to the instantaneous loss of lives for all eleven occupants in both vehicles.
The specifics revealed that a Honda L.E in ash color, bearing registration number NSR 469 AE, was transporting five passengers from Kano to Balangu town, Kafin Hausa LGA.
Simultaneously, a Golf Wagon, registered as AUY 292 XA, was carrying four passengers from Gujungu to Taura LGA. The collision proved fatal for everyone involved.
Upon receiving the report, a prompt response from a team of police personnel from the Motor Traffic Department at Taura Divisional Police Headquarters ensued.
They rushed to the scene and, with urgency, transported the lifeless bodies to the General Hospital. A medical doctor at the hospital confirmed the tragic outcome.
Adam went on to convey that the Commissioner of Police, AT Abdullahi, expressed condolences on behalf of the command.
He extended sympathy to the families of the deceased and offered prayers, invoking Almighty Allah’s forgiveness for any shortcomings of the departed souls.
