100 Pupils Released Following Niger School Abduction

The Federal Government has reportedly secured the release of 100 pupils kidnapped from St. Mary’s Private Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State.

The children were among 303 students and staff abducted when suspected terrorists raided the school in the early hours of November 21.

The News Chronicle recalls that the attackers, arriving on motorbikes around 2:00 a.m., overran dormitories in a three-hour coordinated assault.

According to reports, about 50 pupils had escaped within 24 hours and reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, authorities are yet to release an official statement on the latest development.
