10 Women, 24 Children Surrender to Nigerian Army in Borno After Boko Haram Clashes

Ten women linked to suspected terrorists, accompanied by 24 children, have surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State following violent clashes between rival terrorist factions.
The group surrendered at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday to troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion deployed in Mafa under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY V.
Security sources said the group comprised 10 women aged between 20 and 47 years and 24 children aged between one and 13.
The women reportedly fled the Dukumba terrorists’ enclave after violent clashes broke out between rival factions operating in the area.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the internal fighting forced the women and children to abandon the enclave and seek safety with the military.
The surrendered individuals were subsequently profiled and documented by military authorities as part of ongoing efforts to establish their identities and circumstances surrounding their presence in the terrorist enclave.
The development comes amid sustained military operations against terrorist groups across the North-East under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY.
The surrender also highlights the impact of internal divisions among terrorist factions, with clashes within their ranks creating instability and forcing vulnerable persons, particularly women and children, to flee their enclaves.
Security sources said the situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops maintained high morale and operational readiness.
