Ten final-year students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Calabar, have received the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Student Hardship Grant for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Each beneficiary will receive £400, bringing the total value of the grant to £4,000.
The Head of the department, Dr Cordelia Omoyi, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Calabar on Friday, saying the beneficiaries were selected after a departmental review based on IMechE’s eligibility criteria.

Omoyi said the IMechE Support Network had contacted the selected students and provided guidance on accessing their grants.

She said the financial assistance would help ease the economic challenges faced by the beneficiaries and enable them to concentrate on their studies and complete their programmes successfully.
The beneficiaries are Odey Odey, Iro Michael, Odogbo Margeratte, Afangideh Asuquo, Durojaye Emmanuel, Bate Ojong, Ezeh Ifeoma, Nwaogbe Ebube, Christopher Onwukwe and Ogar Ogar.
