5. Tanzania has the highest rate of people with albinism worldwide (1 person in 1,400 people are living with albinism). In Tanzania and Malawi, the main cause of their extreme vulnerability is the sun which causes skin cancer kills 9 out of 10 people with albinism before the age of 30. While in Europe and North America, it is estimated that about 1 in 17,000 people are born with one of the 20 known types of albinism.
