10 Killed, Several Injured in Fatal Jos–Bauchi Road Crash

At least 10 passengers have lost their lives, while several others were injured in a tragic road accident along the Jos–Bauchi Road in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The accident occurred around 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday, shortly after a military checkpoint. It involved two articulated trucks and two mini buses (Ford Galaxy).
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Plateau State Command confirmed the incident through its Public Education Officer, Peter Y. Longsan.
Rescue efforts were carried out by FRSC officials, the police, personnel from the Ministry of Works, and local residents in the area.
According to the FRSC, a total of 19 people were involved in the crash 17 males and two females.
Ten adult males died on the spot, while the injured victims were taken to the General Hospital Miango, Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), and the Plateau State Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Eight of the deceased were deposited at the morgues of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital and Bingham University Teaching Hospital.
The remaining two bodies were released to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) for burial.
Preliminary investigations indicated that excessive speed and reckless driving were the main causes of the crash.
The FRSC has advised motorists to avoid night travel, drive responsibly, and always put safety first.
The latest incident comes barely 12 days after another deadly accident along Zaria Road, where nine students of the University of Jos lost their lives.
