₦8bn Lifeline: Yusuf Hails Tinubu, APC Govs Over Singer Market Relief

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has poured encomiums on President Bola Tinubu and Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for rallying to the rescue of victims of the devastating blaze that tore through Singer Market, donating a whopping ₦8 billion to ease their pain.

In a statement released Tuesday in Kano by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor said the intervention was not just a financial boost but a soothing balm on festering wounds.

Breaking down the support, Yusuf disclosed that ₦5 billion came from the Federal Government, while ₦3 billion was contributed by Progressive APC Governors across the country. According to him, the assistance arrived at the nick of time, serving as a sturdy bridge over troubled waters for traders whose livelihoods were reduced to ashes.

The governor noted that the gesture underscored President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, especially in times of hardship and national emergencies.

He described the President’s action as proof that leadership is not only about policies but about standing shoulder to shoulder with citizens when disaster strikes.

Yusuf also applauded the APC Governors for what he termed a display of rare solidarity and brotherhood. Their ₦3 billion contribution, he said, reflects unity of purpose and a shared sense of responsibility within the party.

Giving assurances that every kobo would be accounted for, the governor pledged transparent utilisation of the funds for rebuilding the razed shops and providing direct support to genuine victims of the inferno.

He added that his administration would collaborate with relevant federal agencies, APC stakeholders, and market associations to ensure fair and proper disbursement.

While urging affected traders not to lose heart, Yusuf assured them that the Kano State Government would not rest on its oars but would complement the intervention with additional relief measures to help them rise from the ashes stronger than before.
